​​Scholarships are Now Available for Massachusetts Casino Career Training Institute


The Massachusetts Gaming Commission, the Springfield Technical Community College Foundation and the Holyoke Community College Foundation have provided funding to create scholarships for MCCTI students. 

Veterans Free Training – Classes are now being offered for no cost to veterans thanks to the scholarship funds. Register for classes, then download, fill out and return the scholarship application, along with proof of service, to Michele Cabral at mcabral@hcc.edu

Q1. How do I qualify for a scholarship?
A1. Scholarship candidates must be registered for classes through MCCTI and must complete a scholarship application. The application has five questions addressing financial need and job readiness. Scholarships are for new students only.  They are not retroactive for students that may have completed classes or for current casino dealers to continue their education.  Must be a Massachusetts resident. Completed applications may be emailed to mcabral@hcc.edu, or mailed to MCCTI at HCC, Attention Michele Cabral, Kittridge Center, 303 Homestead Avenue, Holyoke MA 01040.

Applicants must provide detailed responses to the questions. 


Q2. How are the scholarship applications evaluated?
A2. A three-person panel will review applications. Preference will be given to veterans and to Springfield area residents who show financial need, are unemployed and / or are ready to accept a job if offered. 


Q3. What is the pre-apprenticeship training program though Workforce Innovation & Opportunity Act (WIOA)?
A3. The pre-apprenticeship training program is a program established by the Massachusetts Division of Apprentice Standards. Guidelines have been established to make sure students within a program gain the skills necessary to pass the interview process with an employer.


Q4. What is WIOA?
A4. WIOA is a federally-funded program, designed to help job seekers access employment, education, training, and support services to succeed in the labor market and to match employers with the skilled workers they need to compete in the global economy.


Q5. How do I apply for pre-apprenticeship training?
A5. Details for applications are still being worked out. Once the details are finalized, interested participants should seek a career counselor through either:
